Complete Regeneration was appointed by Eric Wright Construction to deliver the internal demolition and strip-out works on the Physics Building, Lancaster University. The 3 storey Physics Building is situated on the grounds of Lancaster University Campus and is constructed of concrete, steel and brick external walls.
The team commenced the project with the removal of all redundant office equipment, carpet tiles and loose items. As the project was being undertaken in a live environment, the team worked safely around live services whilst undertaking the removal of ceiling finishes and dust was controlled by the use of hand held sprays during the removal of internal walls. The team then proceeded with the removal of timber ceiling boards and wooden floorboards. Cutting equipment was used for the removal of the lift carriage. The project posed a number of challenges as the works took place in a live environment. Strategic planning ensured the minimum disruption to the University staff and students as well as ensuring the safety of the demolition team and other building users.
