Complete Regeneration were appointed as the demolition contractor by Morgan Sindall for the works on Bedford Drive School, Birkenhead following the completion of the new school.
The project involved the removal of non-licensed asbestos, clearance of general debris and demolition of the former school comprising of 2 storey buildings. The demolition works were undertaken by 3 excavators fitted with specialist attachments which sorted the waste during the demolition process. The works were carried out in a pre-planned and agreed sequence to ensure that the new live school had no disruption whilst demolition works were completed. All of the brick and concrete hardcore materials were recycled on site producing 6000 tonnes of aggregate that was re-used in the construction phase of works.
In addition all metal, timber, plastic and general waste was segregated onsite and sent to local waste transfer stations. A total of 99% of all waste were either reused or recycled.
